Kaleigh Panek had a goal and two assists and Kathryn Arena added a goal and an assist to lead the No. 17 Shelton girls soccer team to a 4-0 win over No. 16 Southington in the first round of the CIAC Class LL tournament in Southington on Wednesday.
Shelby Offord had nine saves for the Gaels (10-7-1).

No. 14 Mercy 2, No. 19 Foran 1 >> Lindsay Stevenson and Jacqueline Egidio both scored in the second half to lead the Tigers (10-6-1) to their first round win in Middletown. Meghan Sengstacken gave the Lions (6-7-4) a 1-0 lead at 19:39.
No. 12 Guilford 3, No. 21 Lauralton Hall 2 >> Chloe Shaw scored the game-winning goal at 59:10 to lead the Indians to their first round win in Guilford. Caroline Monahan had a goal and an assist for the Crusaders.
Hopkins 1, Rye 0 >> Lilly Fagan scored in the 61st minute to lead the Hilltoppers (11-6-2) to their win in the Fairchester Athletic Association tournament semifinals. Hopkins will play Greenwich Academy at home on Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the FAA championship game.
